Bingo

Met my friends for a sneaky cocktail before Bingo and the bar, Tilly May's had some cute murals and decorations.

One of my friends and I had our phones next to our bingo cards, refreshing each time a number was called, as if we were checking two types of bingo numbers. No Anthony Green for us, we had our own commentary in between the dancing and frivolity.

I had said to a friend that morning I thought it would take a few days to get the results. How surprised I was! While it wasn't a vote for Labor, it is clear the country voted against a rise in fascism and other behaviours. It made me proud of who we are. The same when the Porter news broke and pretty much everyone, both parties, said 'No, that's too much. You have to go' instead of turning the blind eye as I had expected.
The best comment I saw, and I forget where I read it, was that it showed the Murdoch Media had lost their power and influence. I hope that is true. The time is well past due for that in my opinion.
Now our job is to demand our 'new' leader stand up and be accountable. The first thing I want is (1) truth in Electoral advertising and (2) mandatory opt outs in electoral texts.

This was a garage I walked past on the way to the pub. Delightful.

  1. That bingo looks like a fun time. And I love the wall with the boxer lady. That is nicely done. It's nice to meet you at T day too. Have a happy T day. Erika

  2. Oh Lydia, I'm SO glad Albanese won your election. A bold and strong victory.

I was delighted to see you having fun at Bingo. I think that garage is charming. You don't see that much in the states. And I was delighted you shared your drink with us for T this Tuesday, too, dear. Thanks for sharing.

  3. VERY cool mural in first pic! My PIL loved to watch the Klitschko-Brothers.
I need to FlamINGO again (stand on one leg for balance).
    Happy T-Day!

  4. Glad the elections turned out the way you had hoped. Sadly, I don't follow the elections of other countries very well. I feel like just trying to keep up with our crazy American politics is exhausting and very disturbing.

Bingo sounds like fun. Always enjoyed playing with my mom and her friends in her assisted living community. Happy memories. We are just back from a cruise where they played Bingo every night. But you had to buy your cards. We had other activities planned so never got around to playing. Maybe next time.

  5. The murals are delightful and Bingo looks like a lot of fun. I am relieved at the way Canada and OZ elections turned out. I wish our outcome had been very different, too. As one of my Aussie friends had said (in reference to liquor stores being closed on Sunday here) This is what happens when you let Puritans settle a country. Happy T Day
