Sydney in December - Share My Snaps!

I will be closing the blog this week until after Australia day, so I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, safe travels and safe driving over the holidays and a very happy celebration to herald in 2019.

My Insta will continue because I can't detox completely!

Thank you all for swinging by over the year - it is an evolving landscape this blogging but I still get so much joy from it all.

Sydney in December means sneaking off to the Grounds to see the snow (Actual quote from an 20-something behind me "Real snow is so much better" - really????)

It means seeing Santa and the David Jones windows, all the sparkly Christmas decorations around the city and the highlight - discovering the Golden Gaytime store is back (in Myer) with a ginger flavoured Xmas gaytime. Fabulous!!

There's the Ikea Christmas lights at home, solar lights in the garden and plenty of parties to go to.

Most of all, it's plenty of time swimming in the many glorious spots around this very beautiful city.

Whatever you do, enjoy Sydney in December!

  1. Sydney really has been glorious the last few weeks, hasn't it?! I saw that festive Golden Gaytime on your insta and now I am desperate to get one. The Grounds also looks fab - I want to go just so I can see the Christmas decorations and of course, say hello to Kevin Bacon! Happy holidays and see you on the other side! Hope all your Christmas wishes come true!

  3. Hi Lydia, I remember growing up in Sydney and Mum would always take us to see the Christmas windows in David Jones and Myers (although it was called Grace Bros then) in the City. You cannot beat the harbour for always giving stunning views now matter the weather. Thanks for starting my week with some lovely childhood memories.

    1. Ditto on the childhood memory - the windows seemed so huge and magic then. It's nice when my youngest sort of reflects the same feeling.

  15. Oh how I miss Sydney - the opera house, the trips on the ferry, Manley beach. We've got family living in Australia and took a roadtrip from Brisbane to Sydney one year and loved it #globalblogging

  16. Have a great break! Love summer, love the beach...I prefer avoiding crowds in Sydney though so shops are a no-go zone

  17. Lovely photos! I'm wondering what a golden gaytime is - from the photo it looks like an ice lolly, am I right? #dreamteam

    1. It's a traditional Australian ice cream, been around 50-70 years? These are handmade elaborate ones that came as a pop up and then came back this year...if you come to Australia, it's a much have! https://www.streetsicecream.com.au/brands/golden-gaytime/golden-gaytime-.html
