Impact

Have you noticed more wildlife since lockdown started? A friend in a suburb near the outskirts of the city had an echidna wandering her street!

We have had more birds. This one was  very low in a neighbours tree. I snapped it on my dog walk.

It got me wondering, is it a result of the bushfires that the animals and birds have had to move to the city, or for us, is it the lack of planes that have made the birds flock in abundance around us?

Either way, it's probably not a good reflection on the impact of humans, even in the city.

  1. Such a beautiful bird. I also have noticed many more birds this year. We have nothing exotic like yours, but there must be at least three times as many sparrows and goldfinches as usual.

  5. Just hope that the wildlife can adapt to the new climate and its impact on their habitat.

  8. Such a pretty bird! I think it's probably a combination of Covid's positive effects on the environment and global warming's negative effect through bush fires that bring more birds to the cities. Wildlife habitats are expanding. In certain situations (as in their numbers are growing), that's a good thing, as long as humans can handle their presence without killing them...

  9. What a beautiful bird! Bushfires will no doubt have driven birds into the cities, but also lockdown has had a positive effect on a lot of wildlife.
